Warwick District Council’s leisure and amenities department invested £1.2 million in revamping play areas across the district to ensure they complied with new EU safety standards.

They wanted to ensure play area users received the right equipment and needed to ensure local residents were happy with the changes. A massive consultation exercise was needed and the council appointed a Kenilworth company Media and Marketing Services to carry out the consultation and related marketing activities.

As the very nature of the programme necessitated a strong positive PR presence in all local broadcast media and press, Media and Marketing Services brought in Splash pr as a partner organisation, on the strength of our background in local journalism and our keen understanding of the role and function of local authorities.

The year long PR and marketing campaign was an immense success, resulting in a huge volume of local and regional press, radio and TV coverage. It also achieved the council’s aim of ensuring it gave the council tax payer what it wanted and included residents at every step of the process.
