Act on Energy
Act on Energy is a local authority and housing association funded charity whose aim is to help householders and businesses use less energy to reduce the CO2 emissions responsible for climate change and cut their fuel bills by hundreds of pounds.
Formerly the Coventry, Warwickshire and Worcestershire Energy Efficiency Advice Centre it recently changed its name in part because so many people expired due to lack of oxygen stumbling over the title!
One promotional activity saw the EEAC produce a calendar of cartoons highlighting the merits of cavity wall insulation and condensing boilers and it wanted some publicity to encourage members of the public to phone in, complete an energy questionnaire and get a free copy.
The calendar’s launch fortuitously coincided with the release of the film Calendar Girls, the story of the WI’s infamous nude calendar! Well, surprise surprise the Splash pr brains decided the best way to get maximum coverage (so to speak) was for the female EEAC staff to strip off, hiding their assets behind their own calendars for a photoshoot. Hey presto, coverage in every regional paper!
